Bright Lights, Safe Nights: Cambridge This Christmas

The festive season is upon us, and Cambridge is rolling out the red carpet—or should we say the Purple Flag—to make your nights out merrier and safer!

Thanks to the team-up between Cambridge BID and CAMBAC, leads on Purple Flag in partnership with our universities, local councils, Police and your favourite venues like The Regal, Pint Shop MASH, and KiKi, there's a sleigh full of initiatives to keep the good times flowing smoothly.

So, what's in store to keep you safe?
 

• Taxi Marshals 🚖: Every Friday and Saturday night in December, friendly Taxi Marshals will be stationed at key spots like St Andrews Street and Rose Crescent. They'll help you snag a trusted ride home without the hassle.
• Open Space Guardians 👮‍♀️: Roaming our parks and public spaces, these guardians are there to lend a helping hand, offer directions, or just share a festive smile.
• Street Pastors & Nightlite 🙏: Out on Saturday nights, Street Pastors provide care and assistance to anyone in need. And if you're feeling unwell or just need a place to chill, Nightlite at Downing Place URC Church is your cozy safe space.
• St John Ambulance 🚑: Extra medical support will be on standby on December 20th, 21st, and New Year's Eve—just in case.
• Trusted Green Stripe Taxis 🚕: Keep an eye out for the silver taxis with the green stripe. They're licensed, reliable, and ready to get you home safe and sound.

Behind the scenes, CCTV teams and venue staff are working like Santa's elves to ensure everything runs smoothly. With everyone communicating and looking out for each other, you can focus on having a fabulous night out!

A little preparation goes a long way, so here are some top tips for a safe night out:
 

• Plan Ahead 🗺️: Know how you're getting home. Save numbers for trusted taxi services or designate a driver.
• Stay Together 👯: Party with your pals and keep an eye on each other.
• Stay Hydrated & Eat Up 🍔🥤: Enjoy the festive cheer, but don't forget to grab a bite and drink water throughout the night.
• Know Where to Get Help 🆘: Spot the Taxi Marshals, Street Pastors, or head to Nightlite if you need assistance.
