History is vividly brought to life at Audley End House and Gardens in Saffron Walden, Essex. One of the top sights of East Anglia, Audley End is an eye-catching stately home, based in astonishing grounds. Visitors throughout the year cannot only see the grand house and estate, they can also explore the service wing, stables and nursery as costumed characters allow people to experience Life Above and Below Stairs every weekend until the end of September. As well as Mrs Crocombe in the kitchen and Mrs Warwick in the house, the popular groom will be inviting visitors to experience a day in the life of a busy Victorian stable yard complete with real horses, dressing up and have-a-go grooming.

The authentic Victorian Service Wing, impressive 17^th century stable block, intricate interiors and wonderful works of art are all waiting to be discovered.Victorian childhoods are uncovered and children’s stories brought to life in the nursery suite with its authentic Victorian toys to play with and clothes to dress-up in.

Say hello to our resident horses in the stable block and take a visit to the Organic Kitchen Garden as you discover over 120 varieties of apples, 40 types of pears, 60 kinds of tomatoes plus many more fruits and vegetables.

Little ones will love it too as they let off steam in the fantastic outdoor play area next to our Cart Yard Café where you can watch on with a coffee! Feeling peckish? Our Servant’s Hall Tea Room offers a selection of delicious, locally sourced refreshments perfect to tickle the taste buds.

With parterre gardens, ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped parkland, a children’s play area, café and shop, make it a day out for all the family at Audley End House & Gardens.
