Drug Dealer Caught Red Handed

A London drug dealer who had been banned from Cambridgeshire was caught red-handed dealing heroin in Cambridge.

Joshua Obah, 25, was jailed for five-and-a-half years after admitting possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.

Obah, of Hazelmere Road, Northolt, Greater London, was seen by officers cycling along Carlton Way, Cambridge, on 23 September last year.

The officers recognised him and knew of a court bail condition which banned him from entering Cambridgeshire. They followed him to a block of flats in Perse Way, where they came across an open front door to a flat and found Obah sitting on a mattress in the midst of a drug deal, counting money and handling a clingfilm bundle of wraps. The cash and drugs were seized along with cannabis found in Obah’s sock and a mobile phone.

More than 130 wraps of heroin were also found hidden in his bottom, with a street value of about £1500. He was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday (6 July).

Sgt Paul Street said: “Obah is a county lines drug dealer who was transporting class A drugs from London to Cambridge to exploit vulnerable people.

“Drugs can have a devastating effect on the lives and communities of Cambridgeshire and we will continue to do all we can to bring offenders before the courts”.
