Cambridge man jailed for drug offences

A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Abdul Noor Ali of Darwin Drive, Cambridge, was the driver of a car which was found to contain a large quantity of drugs including cocaine, MDMA and cannabis, as well as a large amount of money, when it was stopped by officers in Cambridge on October 31.

Ali, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for the supply of cocaine and MDMA and seven months for the supply of cannabis to run concurrently at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday, February 14.

PC Steve Girdlestone said: “We believe these drugs would have been sold in Cambridge and particularly targeted towards students so I am delighted that we were able to remove them from the street.

“Ali initially claimed that the drugs were for his own personal use but we were able to find messages on his mobile phone offering the drugs for sale.

“Ali’s sentence clearly demonstrates how seriously the courts take drug related offences and as a force we will not tolerate them in Cambridgeshire.”
