A man from Newmarket who killed his wife has been jailed for life.

Police were called to a property on Exning Road in Newmarket on November 28 2023 and discovered the body of 41-year-old Taiwo Abodunde.

Her husband, 48-year-old Olubunmi Abodunde, was arrested and charged with murder.

His trial began on Monday 22 April 2024 at Ipswich Crown court, and on Wednesday 24 April 2024 he changed his plea to guilty.

On 9 May 2024 he was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 17 years.

Detective Inspector Dan Connick:

"I hope this sentence provides some comfort and reassurance to those most affected by the murder of Taiwo Abodunde, in particular her family and friends.

"Our thoughts remain with the family and all those who knew Taiwo."

The judge, Martyn Levett, described the attack on Ms Abodunde as "cold blooded and callous", leaving her with catastrophic injuries.
