Peterborough John Lewis Store To Shut

Another eight John Lewis shops are closing permanently - including the department store in Peterborough.

It puts more than 1400 jobs at risk across the country with 318 roles at the Queensgate store threatened. Staff at the shop learnt of the closure just after 10am on Wednesday (24th March).

Last year, eight other John Lewis stores never reopened after the original coronavirus lockdown.

Other stores slated for closure in this announcement are At Home stores in Ashford, Basingstoke, Chester and Tunbridge Wells and four department stores in Peterborough, Aberdeen, Sheffield and York.

The Peterborough branch has traded at the Queensgate for 39 years.

The Cambridge John Lewis department store is unaffected by the new batch of closures.
