Update on men involved in police pursuit

A police pursuit which crossed three counties last night (Wednesday 25 April) has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Six men were taken to hospital following the incident which started in Norfolk and resulted in a road collision at Six Mile Bottom in Cambridgeshire.

Norfolk Police were called around 9.25pm last night following reports of a burglary at an address in Cavell Road in Norwich where the suspect(s) fled from the scene in a black Mercedes C200.

Officers located the suspected vehicle on the A11 heading southbound towards Suffolk. A pursuit continued towards Newmarket, westbound on the A14.

The car subsequently crashed at the junction of the A1304 and A11 at Six Mile Bottom at about 10.35pm.

No other vehicle was involved in the collision.

Six men were taken to hospital with five of those arrested at the scene.

One man remains in Addenbrookes Hospital with serious injuries whilst two men remain at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds with serious injuries. However, one of those men is due to be transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital later today.

The three other men have since been released from hospital and have now been taken into custody.

Enquiries are continuing into this incident and a referral has been made to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) as is usual in these circumstances.
